Does anyone or has anyone on this board ever worked in a residential treatment facility? Some of my patients go to these facilities after inpatient treatment and I'm curious what similarities and differences there are. Also, I may be interviewing for a part-time position at a residential facility. I currently work inpatient child through young adult but since I work registry when our census is low I get called off a lot so I am looking for another part-time job. Thanks!

I worked in a RTF with children with behavioural and/or mental health issues, as a Resident Advisor. We had 2 nurses. They passed all meds for the children, and had other various nursing responsibilities, including assessing any child immediately after a restraint. Now that I am thinking back, I am wondering how we managed with only two!
Physical or mental...one way or another...future "wound" nurse.

I currently work at a residential treatment center. The nurses job at my facility is to go over to the units to interact and try to put out any fires. If there is a restraint, than the RN needs to assess them. There are tons if suicide assessments done, and contacting the doctors for special observation levels. We generally have 2-3 nurses, and someone is responsible for passing medications. Hope this helps!
