I looked into Excelsior, but the CPNE scares the pants off of me and we don't have a Sylvan center anywhere near where I am for the frequent testing that is required. I like the idea of clinicals and since I already work at a clinic/hospital, I'm sure I can arrange them there.

The best I understand Deaconness, they offer the entire didatic portion of the ADN program via online courses. You test and do all your lecture on the computer. Then, you arrange clinicals at a local hospital, and meet requirements for clinicals, like so much time in CCU, Ob, ER, etc, and at the end of each clinical requirement, you have to go to Deaconess college in MO and be tested on skills before you can move on.

For me, this is the way to go! I have to wrok full time while I do this to carry insurance for our family, and if the program is all it's cracked up to be, it will be a Godsend for me! I've wanted to be an OB nurse for 7 years now, and the waiting list for local colleges is about 5 years.

Thanks for the info!

Lisa
