I posted this on another board, but thought I'd put it here, too.

Does this sound legal? I've never been in this situation before and wanted some advice.

I am a pregnant nurse who works part time in LTC and am not due until Spring. I am not on any physical restrictions. My unit is fully staffed nurse-wise. Suddenly they just hired a new full time nurse on my floor which will make me have to float two thirds of my scheduled days on the unit (I've never had to float before). Another nurse told me that they hired the new nurse because "they're not sure if I'm coming back after my maternity leave," and they hired her so soon incase I have to "go out early for my leave." I personally feel like they are pushing me out, making me have to float out and making my life as unpleasant as possible for the remainder of my pregnancy.

Does this sound fishy to you? What are my rights? Are there any organizations you can recommend for me to get in touch with to seek legal counsel on this issue?

Thanks for any replies or advice you may have!

Doesn't sound illegal to me. But does sound fishy!
