Yeah! Because before I know it, " HEY IT'S THE DOCTOR (OR NURSE) HI MS. AMETHYA! HI!" Then comes the complaints. "I hit my arm yesterday and it hurts now."

It's like a celebrity sometimes and I have to hide from them.

Oh my yes. I hate having to take a tray to the cafeteria after my lunch. Sure as the day is long, I'll see a couple kindergarteners in a few minuted. But I do feel like a rock star with them all shouting, "Hi Mrs. SaltineQueen!!"

if i'm in a particularly salty mood, i know which classrooms i can go into for instant rockstar treatment. one classroom of first graders will literally mob me with hugs. it's sweet and awesome and sometimes very much needed. But I also totally get what you're saying - i just want to get to the copier and i don't want to see the kid that is coughing much louder than needed and will be fine if he just stops for a swallow of water. But if he sees me it's going to be a whole thing. i feel like i'm in a spy movie in those moments.

I actually laughed out loud when I saw this. I figured I was imagining that.

I subbed at the elementary school yesterday and at the end of the day these two Lovely Darlings (who had never seen me before) came in and gave me a hug. It made my day. I do have some here on the HS campus that make me feel good when I see them.

This is me during morning drop-off. The parents crowd our lobby, and if I walk through that area during drop-off then I will be stopped by at least 5 parents. I purposely hide in my office between 8:15 and 8:45.

This is SO TRUE!!! It can be fun to venture out into the school world (in my school of ~900 I am expected to be in my office at almost all times so I am not often in the hallways) because the students do get excited. The little ones exclaim, "you're the nurse!" and sometimes even share updates with me like, "my nose isn't bleeding anymore!" (well it shouldn't be, that happened a month ago!) or tell me other things they think are important :) but then there are those certain students, especially when they happen to be in the middle of a random dry spell, that you make eye contact with and go and may as well say, "see you soon!"

It's not just with 'LD's'. In my nursing home/rehab facility, there are certain residents who, if they see you, immediately and almost always need something! Sure, that's partly what we're there for, but some of their 'needs' boggle the mind, which has been covered in another thread or two here. :^)

There are Little Darlings that if they see you or you make eye contact with you can be certain you will see them in your clinic with in the next 5 min. There are two LDs who we avoid at all cost due to this. I will duck into an office or classroom if I coming. I cringe when I hear them say, "Hello, Ms. Nurse", because I know I will see them before the day is out.

Thank God, both of these LDs will graduate this year.

I just hid under my desk so as not to make eye contact while one of those offenders was using the bathroom.
