Relocating to San Diego,CA

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi Everyone,

I have been working as a nurse for 2 years. I have one year experience in the psychiatric setting and 1 year experience in the medical/surgical and medical detox setting. I am currently in the process in relocating to San Diego, CA. I received my CA license and I have been applying to positions. I have not heard back from any of the positions. I was looking for advice as trying to make contacts in the San Diego area. I have posted my resume on Monster, LinkedIn, and Indeed. Thank you all for any advice.

How long have you been looking? It will also be easier to find a job once you are here. Since you have 2 years of experience, you can also consider per diem work, which might help you make contacts. If you are not getting any interest, your resume might not be up to par. There are a lot of resources on the internet to help you write a good resume. Have someone take a look at your resume and give you feedback. There are a lot of hospitals here: UCSD, Sharp, Scripps, Palomar, Mira Costa, the VA, and others. Research all the hospital and apply directly. The Calif Corrections Dept is also hiring. Since you have a psych background, research all the hospitals and mental health clinics. Also, Kaiser Permanente. Good luck.

Hi!!! Thank you for your feedback. I have been looking for about a month now. I just recently had my resume evaluated and redone since I wasn't hearing back from any of the jobs. I applied to Scripps and Sharp. I will look into the other facilities you mentioned. Thank you once again.
