Relocating to Dallas and working at Baylor downtown- need place to live!

Published

Hello! I'm going to be moving to Dallas in a couple of months from out of state and will be working at Baylor downtown Dallas, and I'm wondering where would be a good and safe area to live? Im a young female and I don't know the area well at all. If you have specific places or ideas of where to rent, I'd be interested in knowing that as well. Rent budget max of $1000. I have a small dog and im hoping to take with me. I'd love to stay within a 15 minute drive to the hospital, but I'm open to staying a little further if it means a safer place that's less expensive. I just prefer to stay closer due to traffic.Any other helpful tips/info on Dallas would be great to know as well! Thanks!

Grapevine is a pretty good city. It's probably a 20-25 minute drive depending on what part you live in. Arlington would probably be a 30 minute commute. Irving is undergoing A LOT of construction but it's in your range. I'm fairly new to this area myself so those are the only cities I could give an opinion on. I'll be commuting to BUMC starting next week for my Periop 101. I'll let you know exactly how long it will take me :sarcastic:

I work in the Lakewood area 5 mins from Baylor Dallas. You should deff look into Lakewood and Uptown area or even the village close to a lot of restaurants and shopping!!. I know a lot of younger generation lives in Uptown.

I use to live right down the street from BUMC, that's what we call Baylor Dallas btw. It's in a sketchy part of town like most university hospitals. Anyway as the person mentioned below the village is definitely a popular place for young people. Uptown is also a pretty young and fun place to live. Someone also mentioned Grapevine and Irving- forget those. way to far and suburban. Uptown is where I would live if I was single and didn't have kids.

What do you guys think about deep ellum? And does anyone have opinions on specific apartment complexes? Willing to stretch my budget 1000-1200

Deep Ellum is ok. Very hipster. They are popular with the musical arts as well.

Did you find a reasonable place? I will be relocating in June to Dallas.
