Relocating to Dallas

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I am relocating to Dallas in a month. I have 2 years PICU experience. I have a few questions: What hospitals should I check out? Is it difficult to obtain a position at Children's Hospital? Cooks vs Childrens vs medical city for children?

My move to Dallas may be temporary anywhere from 4-12 months to permanent pending on my husband's job. If possible, I would like to find a contract job. I've been searching on travel/agency websites, and none of them have any pediatric or PICU positions posted. Does anyone know of any company names I can look into, or even any hospitals that are currently using travelers or agency nurses.

If anyone has answers for me, I would greatly appreciate it!! We're moving in a month, and I have so many things to figure out!! Thanks!

I have been in the PICu at Cooks for the last 9 yrs with 4 of those as a PNP. It is an incredible place to work! The unit is 33 beds with 8 being dedicated to CV. We have a busy ECMO program as well as CV service. They do not use any travel nursing and are in the middle of a very large expansion. The unit is well staffed, no on-call time, and has the highest acuity of any PICU in the nation per NACHRI statistics. Can't recommend highly enough.
