Relocating to Chapel Hill area

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hello,

I have a BSN in nursing and have worked in a G.I. lab in New Mexico for the last 2 1/2 years and before that I worked in the OR for 3 years. I am planning on moving to the Chapel Hill area in the beginning of May. I have noticed that UNC-Chapel Hill Hospital has several positions for GI nurses. How hard is it to get a job at UNC-Hospital? When should I start applying if I want to start May 1st? Also, does anyone know about pay rates? Does UNC-Hospital offer a relocation assistance program? I looked into a position at Duke in Durham and it stated they offer up to $3000 for out of state moves. Does anyone work at either of these hospitals? If, so how do you like it? Lastly, we would like to stay in the Chapel Hill area because my spouse will be going to school there, however, if anyone knows of other GI labs in the area (Raleigh, Durham, etc) please let me know.

Sorry for all the questions, but I am realizing my deadline is coming up quick and I have a lot of unanswered questions. Any inforamtion or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

how hard is it to get a job at unc-hospital?

not any harder than getting any other nursing job in the area. hospitals have jobs but there are just so many qualified nurses from all over the country applying for these jobs, that it is tough to get one.

i would start applying now.

i don't know if anyone offers relocation expenses any more, some one else would have to answer that one.

Thanks AshleyA!
