Register through NNAS

Published

Hi

I am applying to NNAS, recently I am working in saudi Arabia and although i am holding a master degree , i have the saudi council registration as a nurse technician. Would this affect my recognition of my degree in CON as bachelor or I need to change it to nurse specialist ( as I am registered from back home )

We do not use the terms nurse technician or nurse specialist for licensing in Canada, what do the terms mean?

How do the terms compare to the Canadian terms practical nurse and registered nurse?

Here in Saudi Arabia we have to be registered through Saudi Commissioning Council , initially they classified us as nurse technician not nurse specialist although that we are holding a recognized bachelor degree.

Saudi nurses that holding same degree were classified as nurse specialists.

I don't know how this will be reflected on NNAS review of my records

Does the Saudi Commission council require the nurse specialists to pass an exam?

Does the Saudi commission council grant a nurse technician license to those who haven' t taken the exam?

How many years have you worked in Saudi as a nurse technician?

If nurse technician is considered a lower license than a RN license and you have been working as a nurse tech for 3-5 years, you should consider applying to be assessed for equivalency to a Canadian Practical Nurse, as your proof of recent practice as a RN may run out before you can meet all of the licensing requirements.
