Regis- Post BSN Nurse Practitioner Program

Published

Hi all. Anyone know about Regis and their NP programs for nurses who enter with an RN/BSN?? Is the school good? Just trying to get some feedback on their programs. Specifically, I'm interested in their Psych NP program

Thanks!

All advice I have been given is to stay away. I hear that even though it's the cheapest, it's the most disorganized. Mostly, however, they don't set up your clinical placements which had been a MAJOR source of headache for students as well as had delayed graduation. I hear that avoiding that stress is worth paying an extra few bucks. UMass Boston has a great program but I also am not sure if they set up your preceptorship or not. However, I would argue their resources are greater. Simmons and Northeastern have great reputations. BC I heard was too fast-moving and only offered the bare minimum of hours. I'm also applying to MGH, which I heard was especially worth it if you wanted critical care.

it obviously depends on who you talk to. I know several people that are currently in the program and love it. while some people feel that it is a negative to set up your preceptorship, many see it as a positive. clinical rotations are set up for you and then from there, you get to set your preceptorship where you made the most meaningful connections. you are also placed with an academic advisor from the point of acceptance, which other schools do not do. i also know two people in the mgh program who have nothing positive to say about the communication between students and faculty.

you really have to do whats best for you. while i am biased because i will be attending regis in the fall over mgh northeastern and bc, it really depends what you are looking for in a program.
