Reference check is done. Now what happens?

Published

I had an interview and the HR did a reference check the other day. I used an RN and 2 MDS that I worked with as a reference. I'm wondering if they would offer me a job if I have passed the check.

If I'm hired, I'm relocating a long distance(Hawaii to midwest). Would it be okay to ask an employer to give me about 2 months to start a new job?

Thank you in advance.

A start date wasn't discussed during the interview?

Checking your references is only one step in the process of desiding to hire. Since they checked only after interviewing you says they had not ruled you out but don't ever assume you are hired until you have a solid offer and have accepted it.

It is best to be upfront and put this information out there as soon as possible. An employer needs to know if it will be an extended time before they can expect you to be available. Two months is a long time BUT NOT UNHEARD OF. Often an employer will waite. However, they need to know and not receive a surprise after they make the offer and you accept. Waiting could loose you the job, even if they really want you
