Red Cross CNA Skills Testing: What Skills Were You Tested On?

Published

I have my Red Cross CNA exam tomorrow morning. I'm really nervous about the skills portion, especially because I'm doing it as an RN student challenger, meaning that I did not take the Red Cross CNA training. I'm really curious to know what skills people were tested on.

I know that hand washing is a given, and I'm not too worried about that.

Then I believe there are three more random skills that you pick from a pile.

I know there are 27 possible for those other three, but it seems like in earlier threads certain skills come up more often (e.g., ROM and dressing resident with one-side weakness).

Anyway, your experiences and what skills you were tested on would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey rose check your PM.

One thing I didn't mention is that there is a deck of cards that you have to choose randomly for your skills.

Again, best wishes!

Specializes in LTC/Rehab.

Washes hands

Radial pulse

Feeding client

Positions on side

Foot care

Good luck to you!

Okay, confused... Foot care isn't even on the list of Red Cross tested skills. Are you sure you took your test with Red Cross?

Remember,

Red Cross varies by state and perhaps have different divisions in one state.

Call your local Red Cross and verify the skills.

I took mine at Southern California.

Hey rose,

CONGRATULATIONS, jjic told me about you passing. I don't have PM in allnurses since I don't have enough posts, so sorry if I missed some mail.

Good luck in your job search! Keep us posted.

Thank you Joon! So glad to have it out of the way.

The only problem job-wise is I found out today that registries won't hire you till you have your actual card from the state and some hospitals are hiring RNs to CNA positions since there aren't enough jobs for RNs.

If anyone has any tips on where to look, send them my way! : )

is the red cross easier to test in than the rop.

From what i know, the rop has a brochure that specifically tells you what's on the test.

Red cross does not, instead they tell you that we will be required to know all skills. They will tell you test structure on the day of the test, but many schools will inform you of the layout. 1) handwashing 2) 3 skills 3) written

Depending on your examiners and district, it might be different. It doesn't hurt to call, although I disliked how my district provided so little info.
