I guess I applied to work at a prison when I was looking for my first LVN job 6 months ago. I got a letter asking if I was still interested just a few days ago. I currently work at a long term care facility in the Bay Area.
Does anyone here currently work at or has previously worked at San Quentin (or another CA state prison?) Care to provide a brief overview of what it's like? This will be my 2nd LVN job ever and it would be a huge leap and drastic change from what I'm used to now. (assuming I actually get an interview and then get the job)
Many thanks in advance!

A LVN I currently work with used to work at San Quentin. He told me that he used to have to wear bullet proof vest and face shield when passing meds d/t urine or feces being thrown. Lovely.
But, it can be that way anywhere. It certainly happens in Texas, too...just about every unit I have worked on, in some form or fashion. Or at least the risk is there.
