recruitment and retention

I'm looking for present practices related to any type of externship type programs. I am looking to establish a program that will allow nursing students the exposure to the critical care areas and hopefully be able to hire them upon graduation.

I am optimistic that there are programs out there presently being utilized and I would like to draw some ideas, from them, to develop something new and creative to put nursing in a positive light.
