I am currently a FNP student and am interested in working in Women's Health (my passion!). I chose FNP in order to have flexibility in my scope of practice rather than WHNP.
I am beginning to consider ANCC vs. AANP for my certification. They both state that you need practice hours in your "area of specialization" etc... Is this a problem as a FNP if I am working in a OB/GYN office only seeing female patients (with mostly OB/GYN complaints) and not many pediatric patients?
Is one certification better for this: ANCC vs. AANP?
Any advice from FNPs working in women's health would be much appreciated!
Specializes in Emergency, Cardiac, PAT/SPU, Urgent Care.
My preceptor who worked mainly in an OB/Gyn who was a FNP picked-up two shifts per month at a family practice office to fulfill her recert requirements.
