3rd semester final HELP Erie Community College, Buffalo, NY

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone. I am a (second time) third semester nursing student. My previous third semester I bought a house and had a baby who had some issues early on. Too much going on at once clearly. I'm a 43 year old male (who also works as LPN in a chronic dialysis clinic) and have not had the easiest time this semester with a wife, teenager and infant (now a toddler) at home. I have cut back on work and have done everything the school suggested to do. I am now attempting to study for my final exam (mostly med/surg content and some high risk maternal (placenta previa, abrupto, preterm labor, etc) disorders. It is very overwhelming to me based on the content volume and I'm not sure how to begin. I have a green HESI study book which gives the highlights and condenses the material but my biggest challenge is finding NCLEX style questions that I can use to prep for the final. I've gone through the Lippincotts and Saunders books and know the questions already from the chapter tests. I guess what I'm looking for mainly are two things. #1. How to review overwhelming content (they say go over the "high points" but the previous tests seem to focus in minuscule things buried in the notes a lot of the time). What are the so called high points? And secondly, where I can find additional NCLEX style questions online (many I have found seem too "easy") or elsewhere. I've been to Barnes and Noble but they don't have a lot there presently even just to sit and read through in the store. Any help would be eternally appreciated as I want a better life for my family by making it through this extraordinarily challenging program. Thank you all in advance!!!

Your hesi and saunders books come with a few thousand online questions, just register them on the evolve website

Aside from that I'm not sure how your program works, but I always make sure I know every bit of what the instructor has said during lecture ..100% of it. After that I'll skim the chapters and do review questions online. Trying to read the whole book is a recipe for disaster in my opinion.
