RACC (Reading, PA)

This school is so hard to deal with. I final am being considered for clinicals this fall. And now they tell us there is no evening clinicals, its a mix of day and afternoon. It can be anytime. They said we have to be flexable. Well I have a 1 yr old son I watch, and family is all out of the area, so I need evenings. And all other schools have 1-5yr wait list for clinicals. It is ridiculous. No wonder there is a nursing shortage, they don't make it easy to get your degree.

Anyone else having trouble with school?

:o

Yes, Please don't get discouraged stick it out when it is all done you will be glad you made the sacrifice to continue. I have been attending hacc for almost 3 years now part time.....initially taking all my pre-req's for LPN then I started taking all of my pre-req's for RN. After my first year & a half I was done with all my LPN pre-req's and was able to apply for clinicals, I applied at the harrisburg campus I had 45 points out of 50 and I did not get in. I wanted to quit right then and there because I have had all A's & B's and could not understand why I did not make it in the cut off that semester was 45.44 so I missed it by not even half a point:o

I stuck it out, and took all of my RN pre-req's in the meantine I just applied this past summer to the lancaster campus and I was accepted I begin in January. I said the same thing that their expectations are a little rough especially when there is such a nursing shortage us students should be able to get into clinicals but they make it even harder for us. If this is really what you want to do, don't give up your time will come!

Good luck,

Jennice

Great. I just went to orientation yesterday.

I was hoping to do the night program as well, since I have to keep working full-time. Looks like I won't be getting into the program any time soon.

Grr.

Specializes in Emergency Department Nursing.

I graduated from the RN program at RACC in june of 2007. No the nursing school administration doesn't make it easy at all. It's pretty difficult actually. Good luck to you.

Are there any other recent RACC grads here?
