Aloha, I will be receiving a reinstated RN license in the state of Hawaii , the first week of July. I am going to apply to the state of CA for my RN by endorsement..I understand from their website that the fingerprinting results and transcript request can take a while for them to receive and process..I see that they offer a temporary license that is good for up to six months.
Did anyone receive their temp license first, and was it within the quoted four to six weeks? Was your employer hesitant about hiring you with a temp license? I will be looking into labor and delivery jobs but will probably start out trying to secure employment with an agency again since my previous experience has been with ltc, hospice, home care . Has anyone had any experience seeking employment with a temporary license?
thank you

You shouldn't have any trouble working w/ a temp license. I didn't. I received my real one in the mail two weeks later. I needed my temp license fast so I went to Sacramento in person and got it in the same day. Good luck.
thank you!!
Hey, I got your PM, but I can't send one back. If you want to get your CA license in-person, the same day, you should go to the CA BON website and print out the list of things you'll need to bring w/ you. I can't remember all of the documents you'll need off the top of my head. Good luck!
thank you! (wonder if I accidentally blocked pm's? will check)
thanks for the response..am waiting on school transcripts and fingerprinting but on the site and application it indicated that the temp licenses are issued beforehand because those documents can take a while to arrive to state board..well ..not gonna book a flight back to CA yet to turn them in person..will just mail it all in..I'm in Hawaii so I suppose I can wait a bit longer :)
thanks again, aloha
