Hey Guys!!!
I have a quick question. I have to go to get a physical tomorrow and meet with HR to sign some papers, so I can start work. This is my first nursing job, and i was wondering what is appropriate to wear? DO i need to dress business like, or is it okay just to wear jeans and a nice top? I figured since i already have the job and am just signing papers; it would be no problem to wear jeans. BUT i wasn't sure. Please let me know what you think!!!
Thank you in advance!!

I am sure if you just look put together you will be fine. Clean face/hair/clothes/smell good. The health field isnt really known for being in suit attire.

I would still wear something nicer. Not a suit necessarily, but maybe slacks instead of jeans. You're still a professional entering a professional environment, even though you've already been hired (congrats, btw!). If nothing else, you'll make a good impression.

I've never shown up to my HR appointment or work physical in less than business attire. If I am not in scrubs and the dress is not specified "business casual" - then I assume business dress.
But I'm old school.
I managed retail businesses and restaurants before getting into healthcare. I still believe the same ethic applies.
Your mileage may vary. I've seen people show up to interviews in scrubs, chewing gum, et cetera.
I just know what I'd wear.

Although I wouldn't wear jeans, if you are going to your physical first, dress comfortably. Of course if you are living in the snow belt, dress appropriately for the weather!

Workplace casual will do nicely.
Switch the jeans for some non-denim pants, nice top and some casual shoes (not flip-flops or sneakers) and you will not be overdressed, but not look out of place in a working environment.

At my nursing school, when we go to orientation for hospital clinicals, we are required to wear dress clothes with a lab coat. I would go with that, minus the lab coat of course! :)

I would not wear jeans to the work place. A nice top and even casual pants are ok, but jeans give a "play", non-serious impression. JMO

When I interview people I don't care what they wear as long as they don't look like a homeless person or a Hooker. Highpaid escort is OK. I'm in TX and jeans seem more acceptable here than anywhere and I wear them to interview inwith a dress shirt. I've never not been offered the job.
Thank you all for the replies!! Sorry it has been so long since i posted; Lost internet connection for a few days. Thanks again :) :)
It can be rough without that internet!

Now, what would Stacy and Clinton say? :)
I think you'd be fine in nice jeans and a top just for the physical and paperwork in HR. But, if your workplace is a bit more formal and conservative, you might be better off in slacks and a nice top.
Congratulations on getting the job! (Sorry, I just could not resist the reference to What Not to Wear. Stacy and Clinton would have a field day with my wardrobe!!!)
