Hey guys! Sorry for posting a question that I'm sure has been asked plenty of times.
I'm starting the Bay Area College Of Nursing's (California) LVN program starting on April 2nd (prerequisites start April 2nd, actual program starts in May), but am fully committed to eventually pursing a BSN, and eventually an MSN.
Does anyone know if there's any way I can start preparing myself to bridge into an LVN-BSN program now? I know I will have to take additional prerequisites before getting into a program, and that the prereq's I'm going to be taking starting on April 2nd won't count as they won't be considered "college credit". Would my only option be to start taking classes at a community college? And does anyone have an idea on what these classes would be?
Thanks for the help!

First, is there a specific lvn-bsn you want to get into? Because different programs will have different requirements. Also, I'm not sure how things are on the west coast, but I've never heard of lvn-bsn programs...I'm doing a lvn-rn (adn) bridge and then doing an rn-bsn. Start doing the prerequisites for the BSN program asap. You will have to take them at a community, but make sure that the credits transfer (most community college credits do because they intend on you transferring). Basic prerequisites will be Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2, Biology & Microbiology, Chemistry & Organic Chemistry (some colleges don't require organic), Psychology & Developmental Psychology, College Math & Stats...

You should definately look into the specific programs in your area you'd like to apply to and go talk to them because, like the other person said, each program can have different requirements. In southern CA usually it's Anatomy, Physiology and Micro. You'll need Bio and Chem to get into these classes though and Bio and Chem have prereqs too. I've never seen an O Chem required, but I have seen one school with Nutrition and Pharm. There are alot of classes when you look at it, but my advice is wait until you finish the LVN program before you start taking the prerequisites. It is possible to do both at the same time, but it is crazy, insane level difficult and I don't recommend it.
