Questions to ask a Nursing Supervisor, HELP!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi! Help!

Background: I am a new CA nurse (although not a new grad, per se; May 2010) gathering up resources before I start spewing my resumes and cover letters and applications all over the place to try and find someone merciful enough to hire me. (:

I have contact information of a nursing supervisor whom a relative met was instructed to have me call. I definitely want to take advantage of this opportunity!

HOWEVER...

Aside from general information about the organization and department that she works for/in, what sorts of questions or topics are appropriate for me to discuss with her? It's a sensitive area I feel, because she wouldn't be interviewing me, and I need to be a little more conversed than yelling out, "Hey lady! Give me a job!" I really want to make a good impression...

ALSO, it seems as though the hiring freeze/layoff spree has calmed down? Are they hiring more new, inexperienced nurses? Any truth?

Thanks so much~! Any piece of advice would be very very very much appreciated!
