I am interviewing for a home health part time prn position. What are some key points to ask and what pay should I expect? It is not an hourly position, but per patient visit compensation. Would I expect to have to take call being prn? I am new to the home health field, so any help would be appreciated! thanks in advance!!

On-call would depend on your agency, at mine everyone takes call, except PRN. (there are not many PRN employees though, also weekend only staff does not take call) Pay also depends on where you live. In the Chicago suburbs I get aprox $40/visit for a routine visit.
Thanks for responding Cathrn64. What do you like about home health nursing. What do you think the pros and cons are?
I would say the pro's are that you get to know your pt's and spend more time with them, you have time to teach and have the satisfaction of seeing progress. You also have flexibility. (it's not as easy as it used to be due to increased regulations and OASIS etc) I have been able to schedule visits around parent/teacher conferences, and Christmas programs etc. You have a lot of autonomy and independence (which can be a pro or a con).
The con's are LOTS of paperwork. You have to spend time after work on paperwork, setting up the next days visits, and phone calls (ie; Dr's and insurance co's) On-call can also be a con, depending on how your agency does it.
I have been in home care for 20 yrs and I find that they pro's out way the con's
