I'm just going make this post about my NCLEX experience.
i finished my LPN program in December 2015. I took a month & a half off from studying while I sent in my requirements for the board.
I officially started studying on feb 26th, I started studying with Kaplan.
i began doing 20-30 questions a day. Some days I did more and some days I did none at all. On days I didn't study the next day when i resumed, I did more. I started my Kaplan with the videos, I did not watch all of them they were very boring & monotone. I began my assessment with the sample test 1 on Kaplan & got a 55%. A couple weeks later I did sample test 2. & then after I finished every single question in the Kaplan QBank, I did the PN readiness test the Thursday before my test , I got a 72%. I then did sample test 3. All select all that apply, I got a 25% (ran out of time & my weakness ). I bought and exam cram book in early January. I did the first two chapters, I didn't study much content.
whenever I got a question wrong I wrote down the rationale & looked it up. That's as much content as I did. At the end of March, I found out about UWORLD & I instantly paid for it. I downloaded the app on my phone and began to do questions, mostly when I was at work, but I would answer questions anytime I had time doing anywhere from 5-85 questions. i didn't get a chance to finish every question on UWORLD unfortunately .
The week of my test began Monday April 25th. I work 3rd shift & I had to work Monday night and Tuesday night. I requested off Wednesday - Sunday & I just studied all those days. I studied all day long Wednesday & Thursday; I did not leave my house. (Wouldn't recommend). Friday I studied in the tub & then I left at 11am & came back at 7pm & I studied until 9pm. Then I prayed and went to bed. Most sleepless night ever.
Saturday morning, I got up at 645am, and ate breakfast and got ready. I reached the testing center at around 725. I studied my lab values& math IV formulas & drug classes for 10 mins and went inside.
i don't remember when I started my test. But it took me 3.5 hours. at 85 questions my heart dropped. At 120 my heart dropped again. And I knew there was no way it was cutting off. At around 150, I took my break. And I went to the bathroom & splashed water on my face. I felt like I was clicking thru my test, I wish I could had went back & started over. my test cut off at 205 questions!! The maximum amount!!!! & I just knew I failed. I had a TON of delegation and priority, select all that apply & 3 math questions. I had one med question that I could remember on spironolactone. & I reviewed that drug so many times between Kaplan & UWORLD I drove home & sat in my car for 10 mins& I cried when I got in the house & told my mom I failed. I honestly felt like I only knew the answer to 10 questions, and I knew 100% sure I got question 205 my select all that apply right cuz I had it before.
i refused to go the Pvt. Trick . But I checked the Ohio board of nursing every couple hours. I didn't leave my house Saturday until almost midnight. Monday morning my sister sent a screenshot of my license & name of the board website.
i just wanted you all to know that it's possible, don't give up. Easier said than done because I was a negative Nancy all weekend & I just knew I was gonna have to take it over but by the grace of God, I passed & you can too!!
