Hi everyone, I'm a nursing student from NYC and since I'm an immigrant (currently a US citizen) I don't have many sources of information about ABSN nursing programs. I would like to ask guys to help me and give me some advice. Now, I am in the first semester of the RN nursing program at LAGCC. Now is about midterm, and my grades are just a little above the passing mark (75). I heard that LAGCC's RN program was the most difficult one. I didn't believe it before, but now I do😰. I spend 4-6 hours studying every day, but my test scores still haven't improved much, so I'm considering transferring to other schools (private schools). (I am already 30 years old, and I feel that my learning and memory abilities are gradually getting weaker. In addition, I heard that the courses in private schools are relatively easier and are accelerated programs) Before entering LAGCC, I had obtained a bachelor's degree in finance from CUNY, with a previous GPA of 3.78. I didn't know about the Accelerated Nursing Program before. After meeting my new classmates, I learned that if I already had a bachelor's degree, I would be eligible to enter the Accelerated Nursing Program (ABSN) because, through understanding, Large medical institutions in NYC prefer to recruit RNs with a bachelor's degree. Even if I can successfully graduate from LAGCC and get the RN license, I will eventually need to continue schooling to get a bachelor's degree for better employment and career development in the future. By asking around, I currently know that some schools have ABSN programs,: Adelphi, Molly, Hofstra, LIC, Stony Brook, Saint Mount Vincent, and maybe more schools. I live in Queens, and my commute mainly depends on public transportation, so I want to know which ABSN program is more suitable for me about the school's: location, the difficulty of the program, how long of the program, the tuition of the program, etc. (I know it sounds bad to want to know which nursing program is easier to graduate from. It sounds like I want to take shortcuts, but my learning ability and age determine that I can't graduate from a very competitive school(like LAGCC). )
I hope guys can understand my situation and give me some advice on choosing a school. thank you all.
