Question about wait list

Nurses General Nursing

Hi I'm new to this board and was wanting to find out some info. I am finishing up my last four classes and then want to apply to the ADN program in January of 2010. I live in southern california and I keep on hearing of these 2 year wait list at all my surrounding schools except Chaffey college. I was wondering if anyone has attended Chaffey college nursing program and how was it and how long the wait list was for you to get in there. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yea the wait list can be horrible for some of these other schools...I knew this gal that applied to valley and they told her their wait list is till 2009!..this was in 2006! that's three years!!! wow!

Where are you taking your prereqs?

Ya I start chemistry and Physiology next tuesday. And then next semester I am gonna take microbiology and anatomy and I was thinking about taking those at chaffey college because they have friday and saturday classes which would be perfect for me and then I'll be all done. It seems like its taken me forever and I can't believe I am almost there..What about you are you done with your pre reqs?

Whoo hooo! Good for you, i was in your position a while ago as well...seems like a long ways away and the prereqs seems like forever, it's like getting a BS! Im guessing you have keenan for chem? or does she not teach on the weekends? Who do you have for physio...unfortunately, i don't think the best teacher (Dale) teaches that class on the weekends. Hope full you get him for micro lab, or cobos.

Yea so obviously im done with my prereqs, im actually starting my last semester next week... long time coming but i've got a couple of complications to overcome (who doesn't)...i'll be alright though...im excited to get my teeth into this!

Are you from the local area? Or are you one of the many who make the long drive to join our program?

I'm actually from the high desert so I'll be taking my chem and Physiology here. Its actually my second time taking chem because I got a D in it last semester so I'm pretty bummed that I have to take it again...So yeah I'll be one of the many students going down the hill for school, but its not that bad of a drive. I was looking into getting into Victorvilles RN program but that wait list is definitley 2 years so I fugure I will send my application into both schools but I really think Chaffey would be alot easier to get into. Are you just starting your 1st semester in the nursing program? Do you live in that area or do you commute also?

Yea, the gal i used to know did the same thing, she applied to both those schools (victor valley), got into chaffey and made the commute...i live one city over so it's not a big hassle for me. I am starting my 4th semester and preceptorship this session. Excited and a bit apprehensive at the same time...it's gonna be fun though..or at least as fun as nursing school can be! Yea having to retake a class sucks...feels like a waste of time. Just get through it. I think the only problem with commuting from that distance is on clinical days when we have to be at the hospital by 630 or so...unless you've got a friend or family's house to crash at for the night (previous)...
