Hello everyone,

I'm just looking for a little advice. I am currently attending a community college and am looking for a nursing school, my delima is that i wanna go to school at night. I found a school that has night classes but, it is very,very expensive around 23,000 yeah i no lol. The other thing is that its for 18 months and i no all other schools are for 24 months, i wonder if I'm going to be cheated out of some information because it's only 18months. I am really ready to become a nurse and get this show on the road lol. Thanks for all the advice.:)

There are plenty of good nurses that come out of expensive, accelerated programs. But there are also a lot of students who rush into a program like that and never finish, but still have to pay back student loans.

I always advise students to be realistic about their background, how good a student they are, etc. For the accelerated programs, you're likely to do well if you are a good, strong student (recently, not "I was a good student when I graduated from HS 20 years ago), AND if you have a strong foundation in A&P.

Unfortunately, all too often I see students who are too impatient to get nursing school "over with." And they rush into programs like what you're describing with the proper preparation or support, and end up struggling through and stressed out (best case scenario), or failing/quitting/unable to pass exit exams and having spent a lot of money or need to pay back student loans. It ends up taking more time in the long-run to become a nurse than if they would have just have had a little more preparation/patience in the beginning.

So be honest with yourself, ask advice of people you respect (nursing professors would be great, if you know any!) , and slow down the process if you need too. If you truly want to become a nurse, you will find a way.
