Question for SRNAs about laptops

Published

Do any of you SRNAs out there take notes during class with a laptop? Do you worry that the noise you make typing will annoy your classmates, especially since (Im assuming) most of your classes are small in size?

I have a Toshiba satellite and the keyboard is nice and quiet. Less noise than pages turning in a spiral lol. But really, I start my program in the fall, and even though I am a good typist, I don't think I will be able to type fast enough to take notes.

I use an mp3 player with voice recorder to tape lectures. I can burn the file to a cd for the car or leave it on the player for later listening.

we are very lucky - our instructors use power point and provide us w/ typed copies of their presentations...anyway - in our classroom there would be no room for a labtop...and many of the students would be annoyed by it...i guess that is what happens when you place 30 type A personalities in a little room LOL.... good luck

RNMBA, your mp3 player with voice recorder, how much information will it hold & what kind is it? The digital recorders I have looked at won't hold more than 90 minutes of lecture. (keep in mind I don't know much about digital recorders anyway, so I could be looking at the information wrong.) :)

For those looking to purchase PDAs, the Sony Clie has hours of recording time on the memory stick. You can easily transfer the file by drag & drop onto your home computer and listen to your heart's content. Very sensitive microphone, clear as a bell. Worked great for me thru school.

This sounds like the way to go. Going to look into this.

Bet you could even burn them to disk later on..

oh goody...more electronic gadgets for me hehe...where did my wish list go??

Man, how fast do you type?! 'Cause that information is often coming at you at lightning speed...
