Hello everyone:
Well, I finally have graduated and passed my boards (YEAH!!) and its time to look for a job. This morning I had a phone interview with Alta Bates. (L&D training program) Does anyone have any information about Alta Bates?
Also, I would like to know if it is appropriate to call HR departments or recruiters, and inquire about positions although they may not have any posted.
I really need to start working soon, and did not expect to have this much trouble finding a position.
(I know.. I have been reading all the posts...I just don't want to move out of the city!!! )

Although I don't know anything about Alta Bates, I would say that the more aggressive you are (with regards to calling recruiters/etc.), the better your chances of landing your 1st choice job. Around here, it seems that most of my friends could have a med-surg job just by submitting an online resume, but for those of us who wanted specialties, we had to call and call, and be persistent. Remember, you want HR to remember your name when searching through stacks of resumes.
Good luck.

I don't know what it is like to work for Alta Bates, but I do know that there L&D ward and maternity ward are excellent as far as standard of care! It is known that Alta Bates is one of the best places to have a baby in the bay area and that the department has grown over the years. ... Probably safe to assume that their nurses are getting excellent training ... just my 2 cents.
