Question on housing while transitioning assignments

Hey experts, my recruiter is telling me I am going to get financially dinged for the following (true or false)I am finishing an ICU contract Sun, Mon, Tues. Starting next contract in the ER the following Thurs, Fri and Sat. Same hospital, same housing. She is saying there is a week lapse in the contract dates, although I am working a full time three 12 hour shifts. What gives, and thanks!

It probably depends on how many hours you total for the month. If you are close to 160 you should be fine.

This depends on two things: how your company pays your per diem (by week, days, hours) and the actual start/end dates of your contracts. How the per diem is paid should be spelled out in the contract itself.

If there is no break in contract dates (i.e., one ends on 5/19 and the other starts on 5/20) and you are paid per diem for each day, assuming that you work your full hours each week, then there shouldn't be a break in your per diem.

If the contract dates end/begin on the last/first day worked, then you would not get per diem for the remainder of each week.

Then, there's the chance that your company could have a clause in the contract stating that they don't pay per diem subsequent to the last day actually worked in the contract, or prior to the first day worked in a contract. I haven't experienced this, but in theory it's possible.

Different companies do things differently, so best thing to do is check your contract. Also, sometimes recruiters are wrong about pay details, as it can be complex. Often it can be useful to check with payroll directly.
