Question on how to get relicensed in MD as a CNA

Published

Hello all. I am new to this website but thought I would give it a try.

I received my CNA lisence in May of 2000 when I was still in high school. I worked in that field for about 2.5 years. The nursing home I worked at wasn't so great and when I quit, I swore I would never work in that field again. Well I have since realized that it wasn't the field that was the problem, it was the specific nursing home I worked at. In the past 6 months I have been debating on going back to work as a CNA to get me back into the nursing field. I want to eventually get a degree in something in the nursing field but not exactly sure what route to take at this point but I know I definitly want to get back into health care.

I have a few questions for everyone. First is how many years does one's CNA lisence stay effective in the state of Maryland before expiring? Two is if it is expired, how would I go about getting it renewed?

I have heard different things from, I have to go threw the entire lisencing process again to, all I have to do is make a few phone calls and pay a small fee. I have no clue how to do this. Could somone please help? Thank you so much.

Jen

My only suggestion would be to go to the MBON website and check it out. I know they have an entire page dedicated to CNA certification req's.

Good luck!
