Question about English language training for foreign nurses

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am a marketing director for an east coast language school....we have been contacted by a company that assists Phillipine nurses come to the US. They want to train around 50 nurses for many weeks (improve English language skills)..

A question for anyone (all help appreciated):

- How often is it the case that overseas nurses need additional language training? (and could come to the US for short periods). If so, which countries would be the biggest, need the most help? Any ideas on groups (intermediaries, hospitals?) that should be most directly contacted, who may wish to engage a reputable language school as their permanent language services provider? Or has our school only caught a "one-off" proposition (I'd think not....if there is one group out there of 50 Phillipine nurses that need additional language training, I'd think there should be other groups too? One confusion: I thought many (most) Phillipine nurses grow up bi-lingual (English and local language?). Finally, I am assuming that nurses from India would not need help, since their English is so strong (something I thought was the case w/Phillipines...). Note, we are able to assist in issuing I-20s

All thoughts appreciated very much. Thank you in advance.
