Question about CSCC online program

U.S.A. Ohio

Hello, I am planning to apply to CSCC's online program. Just wondering once you get into the program what is the schedule like? Typically what days and times are clinicals? Do you have any choices in scheduling? I am hoping it is evening and weekend choices!

Thank you!

Hi,

I realize your post is an old one, so maybe you have your answer already. I graduated from the online program in 2007. Most of the clinicals were Friday all day or Saturday all day. They did offer a very few evening clinicals. You do get some choice, but remember it is a small program, so there are only 2-4 choices of clinical schedule per quarter. The exception would be the 7th quarter preceptorship, where you would follow the schedule of your preceptor.

Hope this helps.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the program. I felt it was a good program, but you have to be very self-motivated and willing to figure things out on your own.

Good luck to you!

Thanks so much. I still haven't figured everything out yet. I was hoping there would be Saturday clinicals. Did you finish the science classes before the program started? I am working on those now. How was the overall course load for the program? Were you studying every night?

Thank you for responding. I may have even more questions later!

Yes, I had all of the non-nursing classes done by the time I started the program. Everything you can get out of the way, you should. There is a ton of material (no different from the traditional program there) to learn each week. And you will probably find yourself studying every night - and you should be! Especially the first 2-3 quarters, I had an assignement due every day, most of which I completed the night before.

Both programs are not easy. I probably made it harder on myself than I had to, because I worked full-time all the way through. I don't recommend that if you can avoid it - I know I was a royal pain d/t the stress at the beginning.

I should also mention to you that you will have skills labs to attend during the week the first 2-3 quarters. I forgot about them when I wrote the first post. Mine were all in the afternoon. IIRC, they ran 1.5-3 hours each.

If you attend the traditional program, you will be in class all day every day, especially at the beginning of the program.

Thank you again! I appreciate all of your information!

I just joined this web-site so if you already received your answer, feel free to disregard this one. I am a first year nursing student at cscc the schedule is mon-fri from about 9:00 until 12:00 each day is a little bit different. Clinicals are thurs and fri from 8:00-12:30. Let me know if you have any other questions.
