Question about Contract

Specialties NP

Published

I signed and mailed a contract (employment agreement) May 5th and they received it May 6th.

I had found the job online, applied, phone interview, received credentialing packet (For hosp.ER position), and was pressured to make a quick decision. This all happened within 1 week.

I thought I wanted to do this but I am having a lot of second thoughts.

The contract states I have to give a 90 day notice period.

But also says the first sentence "This agreement effective the 15th day of June 2011"

But then section #9 it says, this agreement is intended to commence on or before commencement of service and to continue until June 14th, 2012.

c. this agreement may be terminated by NP/PA with minimum 90 days written notice to employer.

d. this agreement may be terminated at any time by written mutual agreement of both parties.

and it has other reasons may be terminated if the NP/PA does something bad.

I am seriously just having second thoughts if I want to work in a hospital. There are so much politics and i've been burned before and I just am thinking maybe smaller urgent care or clinics would be a better fit for me.

I know they wouldn't be happy if I tell them i'm not sure if i'm a good fit, they already have me on the schedule.

But am I technically breaking the contract if it doesn't start for more then a month?

I want to make a decision and call them on Monday if I decide I shouldn't go there. It is also a cross country move for me which I am also unsure about.

I would be telling them one business day after they received the contract that i want out and before the contract starts. I think it would be better then getting down there and giving my 90 day notice right away!

Any advice or similar situations?

Well I think i'm probably going to give it a try. Just going to try to lay low and hope to avoid any problems.
