I just started in medical legal risk managment, it's an office in our quality dept. We deal with malpractice claims and torts, as well as narcotics audits and Inpections and peer reviews. There's another team called patient safety that deals more with close calls, falls, and sentinel events. There's also a team of quality inspectors that each is assigned a niche like aed inspections, keeping med policy's updated, auditing surgical cases to make sure we are accredited and following protocol....

Hello. I've been a nurse for 12 years and have done bedside the entire time. I have my BSN and am not interested in pursuing any higher degrees..but I am willing to get certified. I am very interested in transitioning to a nursing position in Quality and to get away from the bedside, but I am not sure what position might be right for me so I'm looking for some advice. I love projects, fixing problems, and quality/goal metrics. I have experience with abstracting labs/test results and chart reviews/audits. I know microsoft office products and have done multiple presentations and created powerpoints. I am looking to make an impact and a difference. What type of quality job should I be searching for that matches these things? Is there anything I can possibly do remotely and work from home? There are so many different types of quality jobs out there, I'm having trouble narrowing down what matches closest to my strengths and knowledge. I thought about quality improvement coordinator but there isn't anything closer than an hour or more commute which is too long in the Winter. I live in PA. Thank you in advance.
