Quick question.
What is the significance of pupils that deviate to the BOTTOM of the eye?
Clinical term?
Just to give a little hx, the patient was admitted with DKA and ?antifreeze ingestion. pupils react to light...he also has a bilaterally positive babinski's.
The pupil deviation was a new onset, wasn't present on admit.
I would appreciate any feedback.

In pediatrics, this is called "sundown" eyes. (I've never done adult nursing so I guess it's probably called this as well) It's a sign of increased ICP, often from hydrocephalus. I have actually seen this in my oldest daughter during a shunt malfunction episode. Scared the crap out of me.
Thanks!
