Just a quick question hoping someone may know:
Husband considering online PTEC LPN classes. Wondering if anyone can give insight into what sites PTEC Clearwater/St. Pete. uses for clinicals.

I did st pete online. We were able to go to bay pines va/mease countryside/pehms/bon secour/palm gardens in largo. I think the online classes get a little less clinical opportunities because most are done on the weekends. A friend of mine did the day class and got more experience. Honestly, clinicals are what you make of it. I enjoyed all the opportunities though.
Your insight is helpful, thank you! Can I bother you again? Did you get to choose your sites, or just get what you were given?
AND, With the online: were your clinicals EVERY weekend? What were the hours? I only ask because the school is poor in replying to me and these are the determining factors for his decision to enroll. Thank you again :)
No we didn't get to choose. Clinical spots are already hard to get for schools so you have to take what you can get. In the beginning, for the first 3-4months we had a few evenings of lecture/lab and clinicals. Usually 5-10pm. Then the second half of the program it was weekend clinicals every other weekend but not always. Depends on the facility, instructors available. A little disorganized but what school isn't? Hours for weekend were 7am to 5. Sometimes we would leave early or they would release you to finish school work or an assignment based on your clinical day. Then the last few months (3-4) you are preparing for nclex and meet several times during the week in the evening and take ati prep tests. It flew by! It was a great option if you needed to work. If he needs a more solid schedule the day might be better. That way you know its mon-thurs 6am to 2pm no matter what. Feel free for any more questions, I had a bunch too!
