PSW vs CNA?

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

I am currently training to become a PSW in Ontario, Canada. I will be relocating to Ohio once I have earned my PSW certificate and have a year of experience in the field (summer 2012, approximately).

Can anyone tell me what the equivalent position to a PSW (Personal Support Worker) is in Ohio?

Thanks so much, and sorry if this is not in the right place.

I know someone who was a psw in Canada before moving to the us (tennessee) and there is no psw equivalent here only cna. She is working in a hospital cafeteria now and might take a cna class. You will probably have to take a cna class when you move to the us since your psw certification won't be recognized.

I'm not sure about CNA's in Ohio..we take the test to become STNA...that may be the same thing .. You have to take classes than take a state test. They are pretty easy though especially if you have experience.
