Hello,
I'm a New Grad recently hired at an Orange County Providence hospital. I started with the last TIPS cohort.
Nationally I know there is a nursing shortage, or at least experienced nurses it seems. Every day off I get calls/texts asking me to come in extra, and recently there has been a sign-on and referral bonus ($20k and then $7.5k for RNs).
However, this feels a little insane for 1. the people who were just hired within the past year 2. all the people whove been working SO hard this past many years/covid times?
I'm just curious as to if this is across the board for all Providence hospitals and also 2. for all NEW GRADS, what is your starting salary for the TIPS program? and 3. Why are the OC Providence hospitals against unions? Not sure what people have against being paid and represented ?
The CEO of Providence made $11Mil. for 2020 I believe.
Nursing will continue to be an underpaid and overworked profession as long as we allow it.
