Prospective jobs for Long Island ADN RNs

Hi all.

I'm new to this website and I'm hoping to get accepted into SCCC RN program for Fall 2011 (I should find out any day now). I searched the forums and couldn't find any recent information on the job market for ADN RN's on Long Island (NY). Can anyone provide any information on the job situation on Long Island for new RN (ADN) graduates. What I'm looking for is, are any hospitals hiring new RN's or will I have to expect to start in a nursing home first. How is the money in nursing homes compared to hospitals (--- is it a huge difference) and will that experience help me to eventually move into a hospital position? What other opportunities are there besides hospitals and Nursing Homes for new nurses ? I don't care where I start as long as I do get an opportunity in health care but given a choice my preference would be a hospital setting. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.
