Too many study aids??
Look at the Memory Book of Nursing. It has great pictures for memorizing things, disease signs and symptoms, fluids & electrolytes, meds, etc. There are different volumes. Get an NCLEX review book like Saunders, there are good reviews at the beginnong of each chapter that makes for less reading. Also, there is a little spiral book RN-Notes or something (spiral is on the top). Most things ate covered quickly in a little page or 2. Of course, now I just told you about MORE study aids to buy :)

Urine Specific Gravity
Sorry for the typos. Phone typing is not my best skill.
-
Urine Specific Gravity
If urine specific gravity is less than 1.010 it is dilute - if the urine is dilute there is too much fluid = FVO. If the urine specific gravity is higher than 1.030 it is concentrated - the is not enough fluid = FVD. If the urine is much heavier than water then there is more waste product and less fluid. If tge urine is closer to the mass of water then there is more fluid and less waste. Not sure if that was what you wanted to know :)

NYP Interview "Day"?
I would like to ask how do you get invited? Is there an application online? Are there certain dates that there are postings about this or are there events that are posted somewhere? Graduation is drawing near and I dont even know where to start, but I think I need to start looking into these things soon. Thanks.

anybody knows about RN to BSN program at hunter?
I am entering the program this fall, however it is through a dual joint program. I was required to complete chem 127, stats and History 127 in order to be accepted for the fall. All of the other classes were prereqs/coreqs for the program I am currently in so I already completed those.

Can I get my RN and then my BSN?
Yes you can do that, its what I'm doing. Get your associates and take the NCLEX to become licensed. Toward the end of your progrsm, apply to a 4 year school to a RN-BSN program. Your CC may have articulation agreements with some, or a dual-joint program with one. You can also opt for a completion program and do it online.

Palpations, physical exams on genitals?
For my class we had to allow a full, stark naked genital exam, and had to do it in the student union building during campus tours and freshman orientation so that we could draw other students into the nursing program

Monroe College RN to BSN program
I think if you are just transferring into Hunter, they accept 60 credits or so. Check out their website under transfers. Editing, because I just went tot he website and can't find the amount they will take but I believe when I filled out my application they said they generally accept 60 (maybe it was more). If you do go to the transfer page you can see which of your courses match up to theirs though, so that may be helpful. More credits seem to transfer to online programs, but of course most of those cost a lot more, and are online :) The school of professional studies has an online program that looks pretty good, just in case you haven' heard of it.

Whats a good position to be available for kids schedules.
FlyingScot, I my have taken what was not a "jump" to be a "jump", as you said, it is hard to tell the tone that was meant :)Yes, that does answer my question (along with the poster after you), because I have been under the impression that it would be easier to get a job at a local office, not because it is an easier job, but because I figured they would like to train people themselves. Also that I figured that with the lower pay, it would be more targeted at someone without experience. Also, my doctors office hires young nurses, a few that have had trouble giving injections. For my bloodwork, etc, this semester, I was the nurses first subdermal injection.

Oh geez! I was just waiting for the day when someone would jump on something I said as I have seen happen to so many people here. LOL. I apologize from the bottom of my heart for saying something that you felt was an insult. I do not want to work in a doctors office. Clinic work, however, may interest me. I am speaking about a small neighborhood office, which is fine if someone wants to do that. I don't. Settling for anything I can get means settling for what I personally am not looking for, I was not saying I consider it to be a crappy job.

Just curious why you wouldn't recommend a Dr's office for a new nurse? I graduate in May with my associate's and begin my BSN in the fall, so was thinking that even.though I really wouldn't want an office job that I may need to settle for anything I can get.

Clinicals..funnest or hardest part?
That's why I keep my ears open and when I hear something interesting is going on I immediately ask if I can tag along, assist, or do whatever it is that needs to be done. I have gotten a chance to watch and do so many things that way. Sometimes you have to find your own opportunities, the instructors are usually pretty busy and don't always know when something good is going in the next room or down the hall.

Clinicals..funnest or hardest part?
I have really liked my clinical instructors so far. Progress notes were complicated and time consuming last semester (for my group anyway), so if there was a bad part that was it. I always enjoy clinicals, the yuckier the better! The only bad experience I ever had was last semester, just one day, the nurse that had my patients was just a nasty, rotten person. She snatched something out of my hand and made stupid rules of how things needed to be done. My instructor agreed with me that her thinking was ridiculous, so I knew it wasn't me...lol.
