Hospitals in NJ and NY hire new grads in PICU and NICU. Most of my classmates got hired into both specialties.

I think this cartoon also applies to all the new grads during orientation. Take advantage of the knowledge your preceptors have and ask a lot of questions.

It's very difficult. I agree with the previous post, if possible get a year experience under your belt before entering the competitive job market on the northeast.

I used the Kaplan review and did 1 chapter of Lacharity. I would recommend Kaplan but I'm not sure if Lacharity is worth all the hype it gets on this forum.

Apply for NY and PA license. it will improve your chances of finding a job.

Don't give up! Now you know what to expect and you'll be better prepared next time. Time was also my issue and I trained myself not to linger on questions, read it twice, select an answer and move on to the next question.
