I know who and what day. It was the day the MD kept interrupting report. But there is more to it. It's the supervisor's assignment and somehow the full time pay rate for it got out. There hadn't been any complaints until they didn't have an RN to cover our off days. Lpns don't want to float to that hall unless they get a bonus and they're not giving them a bonus.

I work the skilled hall and some of us regulars were called to the office because no one wants to pick up on our hall. Apparently, we leave a ton of orders and I'm the "Queen." Now I've learned the hard way to NEVER leave an order. If for whatever reason the person I left the order with can't complete it, whose buttocks is it?? I know whose and that's why I don't pass on orders. I've done some serious thinking and the only orders they can be referring to are the ones the MDs are writing as we're giving shift report. I'm not going to lie, I leave ALL of those. So how should I handle this? If I run to the office, we all know what they are going to say, "Pass it on and punch out." Is there another way to handle 3 pm orders that doesn't create so much "tension" or is this just the nature of the beast?

I always wear a suit but I'm curious to know what it is that your carry in the briefcase? My school made us put together a portfolio but I haven't taken it on any interviews. Now that you've mentioned it, I guess it would look better pulling my resume out of my portfolio rather than a folder...lol

You will be taking a math test at the BEGINNING of each semester that you have a nursing class and if you don't pass it with 90%, you fail the class. 254 people took the teas exam the semester I was admitted and my school accepted the top 40. If your admitted, they'll be teaching you science from day one......not so much on the math, English, and reading so you have to have a good understanding of those subjects out of the gate. I actually BOMBED the science portion of the teas exam but scored in the top 91% in reading, English, and language. I was told not to worry about the science because they were going to teach me that. They explained that my scores in the other areas let them know that I was capable of comprehending the science.

I had to cut my relationship loose about a year into nursing school. I remember studying one weekend and he came in wanting me to drop my books and take our daughter to the emergency for a MOSQUITO BITE. Yeah, you heard that right.........a mosquito bite in the dead of summer is a medical emergency of which I must drop everything to tend to. I knew right then and there that he had NO intention of seeing me finish nursing school and very shortly after that I was finished with him.

I'm in Ohio and the job market is pretty good in my area.....especially for those who have a BSN. I was scheduled for my first interview less than 10 days after getting my license. I think she'll be just fine whether she takes time off or not.

Just remember that clean and dirty patient's don't mix.

It worked for me. I took the test on the 28th and got the good pop up 30 minutes later. My number was posted today.

My kaplan scores were QT 1--64% QT 2--64%. QT 3--60% QT 4--57.3% QT 5--61.3% QT 6--66.5 Diagnostic --59.4% Readiness --66.7% I took my test today and ended up with 75Qs and the good pop up.

I score a 98% chance of passing on ATI but now I'm preparing for my Kaplan review class and those test are killing me. Diagnostic--59.7 % Qt1--64% Qt2-64% Qt3-60% I was feeling pretty confident following the ATI but After Kaplan.....not so much

Don't worry too much about it sticking just yet. All you're nursing classes will reiterate the info. Nursing school is all A& P all the time.....eventually it starts to stick.

In that case, I'm sorry but your class doesn't have a leg to stand on. She wanted details to be sure you knew EXACTLY what it was that you were talking about and you didn't give them. Re-take the class and be more specific in your answers. Anyone who signed that letter came across as a cry-baby who couldn't follow directions. That's not a good look in nursing school. Good luck.

Were your exams essay type questions or multiple choice? In my anatomy course, we had a comprehensive take home exam that we were allowed to work together on but you had to answer the questions in your own words. None of the students who worked together received the same grade. Because we had a week to work on it, the instructor made it perfectly clear that the answers had to be as detailed as possible. Those who wrote their answers out like a novel, received an 'A' and those who gave short answers received something less. They were upset about it but they really didnt have a leg to stand on.

Is it possible to pull a med without checking a chart? I mean how would you know which med/dose to pull if you dont look in the chart? I'm confused.

I'm not a nurse yet but I thought that was too funny. I have a kid under ten and I know how they are about bandages they dont need. I better go stock up on some band aids now...lol

I took them together and my instructors kind of lined them up so that in each class, we would be going over the same topics at the same time.

What kinds of assignments do you have in clinical other than care plans? Everybody's care plan shouldnt be the same.

When I was at a clinical site in greater cleveland, I met a new grad who had gotten a job before taking NCLEX. She was dressed as a PCA but her name tag said student nurse and she was working beside an RN in the ER. I've also seen a few job posting for student nurses that require you to be so far along in the program

The first 100 pages of EVERY chapter of EVERY nursing textbook goes over AP..... and that's before you get to the 'nursing' portion of each chapter. You'll be assigned 4 to 6 chapters to read every class session and tested once a week. So dont worry so much about AP sticking just yet. School will drill it into you from start to finish.

I study for all exams with the ATI book. Although my instructors dont pull their lectures from the ATI, I can hear them lecturing in my ear when I read it......like word for word. I use the ATI online tutorials and practice exams. So far, I've gotten a level 2 on every ATI proctored exam I've taken thus far.....including the one for Pharm.

It means that they were cited for something and given a chance to correct it. Tri-c didnt make those corrections in a timely manner so they lost accreditation. Once they filed an appeal, their 'accreditation with conditions' status was reinstated pending the outcome of that appeal. If you graduate in May, you should have nothing to worry about because appeals take time.

You can go to the NLNAC's website and check the status of any school they accredit. Tri-c still has accreditation until the appeal is decided. There are several other schools in the state that are in trouble as well.
