I think I might be losing my mind
Yes, I felt that way in nursing school. I did the only thing I could do, I studied & studied some more. Why don't you devote like two hours a day while on break to studing & answering NCLEX questions. In nursing there is always something to study. Even after you graduate, you'll still have to study for the NCLEX.

I messed up
In nursing you have to learn to brush off a lot of things. Sometimes patients don't like or say rude things to you. Sometimes families don't like you. Sometimes jobs just aren't the right fit. As long as no disciplinary action has been taken against you, your license isn't in jeopardy, and your hireable some place else I wouldn't worry about. I would look on the bright side at least you don't have to deal with that DON again.

How to get over the "new nurse" fear
Everyday in nursing you pray for a good day. I pray that nobody codes, or has a heart attack, or stroke, or something like that. The only thing that gives me peace is my training. I know that if something did happen I've been trained to handle it. The other I learned is that I am one person. I try to get everything done in my allot time. If I'm not able then that is why there is 24 hr care. Somethings can be passed on to the next shift.

I messed up
That is a whole lot to do for such a little mistake. If I was the DON I would have just said hello to you inside the room & then introduced you to the son, & kept it moving. People make the biggest tado about nothing.

Anyone care to share what made you fall in love with Nursing career?
When you have a patient and they look into your eyes and say that they are so grateful for the help that you have given them. Also, when I got the privilege to hold a patients hand as she died. It's the little things that gives this job so much meaning. I love nursing, and I didn't know it until I became one.

Didn't use the PVT trick or quick results
I took my NCLEX PN on April. 7th. In my state they do offer the quick results in 48 hours. Our licenses are posted a either the same day as the quick results or the next day on the BON. So, I took my test and decided not to do the PVT trick or purchase the quick results. I had decided that the NCBSN was not getting another dime out of me. I would just wait the 3 days to see if my name showed up on the BON. It did. Anyone else use tthe wait & see approach.

Motivation to Pass my LPN Nclex
Passing school does say something. It says that you tenacity and perseverance. You just need to use that same tenacity & perseverance to get you through the finish (NCLEX) line. I couldn't afford those expensive study tools either. What I did use though was the NCBSN learning extension comprehensive review. I bought the 8 week course for $100. I passed my NCLEX with 85 questions. They also offer a 3 week course for $50 & a five week course for $70. It helped so much. It goes over everything that you learned in school. This review is also written by the people who write the NCLEX! So, who better to study from then the people who write the test. This made a world of difference. Good Luck!

Passing cut offs
What?! 70%!!! I wish my school did allow 70%! At my school an 80% was the lowest that you could with NO rounding. Consider yourself lucky.

NCLEX-PN, Using NCSBN Review
When I started running out of time I did the points to remember and took the tests. I read every rational. Even the ones I got right. I also studied the information in the question if I got it wrong. I passed the NCLEX with 85 questions in 2 hours.

Anyone only use 1-3 resources and pass NCLEX?
I used NCBSN 8 week course for $100.00. They are the people who write the test. I passed the NCLEX-PN in 85 questions. I recommend it to everyone.

fail Nclex PN 2nd time
Try the review from the NCBSN. Their review is awesome. First they are the ones who writes the test. 2nd you get over 1,300 test question. 3rd they are not as expensive as some reviews I have seen. They also give you detailed rational explanations! Good Luck!

Apprehensive of the responsibility
So, I just graduated nursing school & am waiting to take the NCLEX. For my job I had to have a phone interview, a nursing assessment (nclex type questions), and a skills test in order to become an LPN, which I passed. My school has almost a 99% pass rate for their NCLEX, so chances are I am going to pass but I don't care about any of that. What scares me is all this responsibility for all these people in my hands. I keep thinking what if I do something wrong to the detriment of the person that I am caring for. When I started nursing school I was like they will teach what I need to know to accurately assess someone but performing an assessment wrong, giving the wrong meds, or performing CPR on a person that has coded has me scared to death.Sometimes, I think to myself I can't believe the state is going to give me a license to do this. How did everyone get over their apprehension?

Tips on studying for medsurg?
For every disease you need to know the pathophysiology, manifestations, and nursing interventions. Sometimes the disease seem to clump together which makes it a little harder to learn but if you have cues to help you remember things it becomes much easier

Second change Pre-Nursing Student
This is at a community college. You have to take 5 pre-reqs but they count towards your RN should you choose to continue on. The classes are sociology, psychology, English 101, human anatomy & physiology and microbiology.

Second change Pre-Nursing Student
It was about May or June of 2013. I got on the list in June of 2012. I started Jan. of 2014. Some people in my cohort got into the program in less then a year. One guy got in, in like 6 mos. Sometimes, if a lot of people don't accept their position in the class they call the other people on the list early.

She said 2017 for the Lpn and then you'll have to get back on the waiting list for the RN program? That's a long time. I guess that's about right I waited 1 1/2 years for the LPN. I hope to be back in the RN program in Aug. 15 or Jan. 2016 with God's will. If you have any questions just let me know.

Second change Pre-Nursing Student
Are you at GRCC? I go there & graduate Nov. 21st. from the LPN program! Did you have any specific questions? At GRCC they mean business. They are not about them games. GRCC requires an 80% in order to pass a class with no rounding, higher than any other school in the Grand Rapids area. It has been mentioned to me many times that GRCC nurses know their stuff and this is true! Which is why employers often hire us before we even taking our NCLEX. You will spend hours upon hours studying but it is very doable. The very best advice that I can give about the program is talk with people who attended the program in the cohort before yours and pick their brain regarding the teacher that you have. Former students that have been successful can provide a wealth of information regarding how to study, what to study for and what resources you need. Also make friends with people in your cohort. Those friends that you make will help pull you through because it's not easy but once you finish you will have the very best feeling of accomplishment. You will fully understand why Nurses are protective of their name and the profession.
