  1. Unfortunately, there IS a lot of truth there. I guess that's why I believed it. I'd never seen the site gomerblog before.
  2. To tell the truth, I really thought it was true! I feel pretty stupid!
  3. I found this article posted on facebook. I think it's about time someone realized this. Do you think this will lead to stopping those dreadful surveys? http://www.gomerblog.com/2014/08/patient-satisfaction-2/
  4. I don't have anything to add, but it's such a great thread, I'm hoping someone else does!
  5. Just imagine if Milton said that to his wife in a sem-public place where others could hear, what kind of things did he say and do to her in private?!?!?
  6. "prostrate" for prostate, "Altheimers" or "Oldtimers" for Alzheimers
  7. Once had a LOL who would curse and swear at her husband, who was deceased. One day she was swearing at him and I reminded her that her husband was in heaven, she them replied "Well, he won't be there long!"
  8. "My DH made the mistake of asking if, when I got done with school would I be a "real nurse.". I was an LPN at the time studying for my RN. When I said "yes I AM a nurse," he said, "Yeah but you'll have a license and stuff then.". Needless to say he was sorry he asked!" What did he think you had now - a learner's permit?
  9. I think you should pay attention to thread #2, she makes some very valid points. You need to do a lot more investigation, before making a commitment to becoming a nurse.
  10. One of the saddest things was this: 17-year-old kid walks into the ER, says he walked there because his mom went to the family shelter with his younger siblings. Turns out, kid can't stay at family shelter because he is too old (age limit for kids at the shelter is 12). However, Child Protective Services can't provide a place for the kid because, the way things work in THIS state (I'm in The South), he is considered an adult at age 17. Can't go to "regular" homeless shelter, because you have to be 18 to go to that shelter. I guess the kid couldn't think of anywhere else to go except the ER. We let him hang in the lobby for the night while the charge nurse worked with hospital social work to get the kid a place. That IS sad! Poor kid! I guess they did find him a place?
  11. It's also pretty terrible when the family of a dying patient asks "How much longer will it be?"
  12. Just wondering how everyone has done who has quit their job to become a CNA. How do you like your job? Was it worth quitting your old one? I hope everyone is happy with their decision.
  13. It would be an A, just like the C+ or C- is considered a C.
  14. When I became and RN, I had been working at a LTC as an LPN. When I went to work at the hospital I made the same pay as I did as an LPN at the LTC. Nursing homes around here (Indiana) usually pay $5 - $6 per hour more than hospitals.
  15. I believe I read this on this forum, but I can't remember which thread. The FOB made the same request of the female OB/GYN who was stitching up the mother. The OB replied "Sure thing, pencildick!":yeah:
  16. How'd they know it was dried menstrual blood? Were there sanitary napkins or tampons too? Yummy! I'm enjoying my lunch!
  17. I'm sure she didn't believe their story for a minute. I detected a note of scarcasm myself. That was the story they were told, and she was just relaying that way.
  18. I think maybe her point was, that the bra needed to be cut off because of a medical emergency. If you could die, your bra should be the least of your worries. If the person was that poor, I'd buy them a new bra myself, or see if the hospital would replace it. That is, if the person survived.
  19. "as i was bending down to get the bed pan the man kicked me in the butt and i went face first into the bedpan." Did he kick you on purpose?!?!?
  20. Congratulations! You are such a wondrful person and your daughter is lucky to have you. I hope she continues to do well, which I'm sure she will. God bless you both.
  21. 8;1 ratio? That's GREAT!!! Your are lucky!
  22. Check out the board, a lot of people are in your shoes. The "nursing shortage" isn't as bad as they let on.
