TRAGEDY at Clinical!
No one knows if she lied. Stop assuming things about people. She reported it as she should have according to the OP. Needle sticks happen and one wouldn't be fired for it so why would one be kicked out of school (or the clinical)? I always find it peculiar how many nurses online are always so judgemental as if they've never made a mistake in life. And let me tell you right now- there is no such thing as "karma" because half of you would be meeting that B!7c# every day.

Does it feel to everyone else that many newer nurses glamourize the ER and ICU?
Stop worrying about others. What difference does it make to you what speciality someone else wants to work? This is their life and their job. It takes a village as they say. I'm sure you didn't go out and ask everybody what they thought you should do the rest of your life. Nursing is hard- let people do what they want. Complain? Yup- we call complain at times. Nursing is HARD, especially if you're doing it right. I've done med/surg tele, Neuro stepdown, and Medical ICU- I do think my previous experience has helped in the ICU but I surely wouldn't begrudge someone else for what they want to do with their life. It's hard enough to be happy in this world- Let's stop tearing people down and instead, lift them up. They wanna be an ED nurse- help them be a BETTER ED nurse. ?♂️

MSN FNP or Post-MSN cert?
Yes, I got my MSN with WGU. I was going for the Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner certificate at Purdue. With them I found if you wanted to transfer any classes- you had to go with the certificate program. I thought it would cut out a lot of time rather than going full MSN in it (since i already had my MSN). I didn't even look at going full MSN because I already had taken a lot of those classes. And how things transfer is VERY important if you are already taking MSN classes with WGU. They wouldn't transfer with Purdue because a lot of WGU's classes are 2 credit classes vs. Purdue's 5 credit classes. So, with them, you'd basically be doing the full MSN. The point of doing the certificate is so you don't have to redo those basic MSN paper writing classes. Nurse Practitioner is a certificate anyway. I think, JMO, if you want to do FNP and you really haven't done a lot in the MSN courses with WGU, just try to switch to that to get your MSN FNP so you don't have to retake classes and waste time. I mean- if it's going to take 18 months for both- go ahead and switch otherwise you'll be taking MSN classes over and wasting that time and money for the certificate (or for the full MSN if you go that route). I stayed with WGU thinking classes would transfer better and I was mistaken.

MSN FNP or Post-MSN cert?
Yes- Purdue Global doesn't accept those 3 core classes- one of the reasons I dropped them. One of WGU's is a 2 credit class where Purdue is 5 credit. They wouldn't accept my class because it was a 2 credit class. You don't find this crap out until after you put your deposit down - which if you drop- you lose. I'm finished with WGU and now finished with school. Proud of my degree from WGU and will continue on that route. Good luck.

Doctors Say the Darnedest Things - WIN $250! Nurses Week Contest 2018
I had a doctor tell a patient and family while I was in the room that nurses were worthless. The family responded "but the nurse practitioner said..." Where said Dr then stated nurse practitioners aren't any better than you are they've only had two years of school". Stunned looks came across all our faces. I had to excuse myself from the room. Yes, doctors say the darndest things.

Which tablets are you using for Kinnser?
Look into something like the MS Surface PRO. HP make some similar styled 2in1's - they have pens to sign as well. I've had a Surface Pro for a little over 3 years and love it.

Best way to earn a BSN as an RN, ADN with a non nursing bachelor?
I am doing the RN to MSN at Western Governors University online where i've already gotten my BSN in the process. It's all online, you have 2 terms a year, 6mo ea. So if you buckled down you could theoritically finish in a year. It took me a little more than a year to get my bsn. It's accredited - many of my classes I had from my previous BA and ASN was accepted- psychology, history, etc When I started WGU I had to take Stats, Biochem, nutrition- I would say Stats was the most difficult but I had my own personal tutor. They have online tutors at WGU as well as course mentors that can help. Unlike a regular class, it wasn't remembering all these formulas, it was a couple but mainly you're making sure you know the concepts. If I passed it, anyone can. WGU is growing quickly as well. Other schools online would be Chamberlin (expensive), Capella (has a similar concept as WGU now of competancy based learning. Good luck in your endevor.

PLEASE HELP: New grad, 3 months into first job, want to quit and leave it off resume
If you can stay 1 year, that will open doors to a better job. That gives you that 1 year experience often required. If you just can't, and I totally understand if you can't, quit with 2 weeks notice. Always give 2 weeks. Never burn bridges if you can help it. But to answer your question, yes, you can simply not put that job on your resume. But then you also can't claim ANY experience. Good luck

Classmate Spilled Coffee On My Laptop - Broken
One could say that it was up to you to make sure nothing happened to your laptop. You knew the coffee was there but did you move the coffee or your laptop to prevent an accident? Did you take any measures at all to protect it? The appropriate thing would be for your classmate to help pay for damages. But if your classmate is as broke as you, good luck in getting that money. Are you willing to go to court? ... The most likely scenario is that you alone will have to cover this. Pick your battles and spend your energy wisely. You already have enough to worry about with school.

WGU MSN in 6 months
statistics was a B!^#. I knew it would be because i just have a difficult time grasping math concepts. Plus trying to do it on your own. There's lots of videos. good luck with that. My mentor chooses my classes and so far she hasn't steered me wrong. however she does ask for my input and allows me voice my opinion and I'm sure if I spoke up about one I waned to take she'd let me as long as it wasn't one that is important to take in consecutive order.

WGU MSN in 6 months
biochemistry wasn't horrible. it's not papers really, it's a combination of written assignments and diagram/model building that all have to be cited APA. no exam in that class.

WGU MSN in 6 months
Leadership- And yes... being online, you have the luxury of studying when you want/can yet a lot of the material you need to research. ie. Biochemistry. And being online, the explanations of what to do are a little vague. I"ve just found it takes a good bit of time. For example, I spent about 4.5 hrs yesterday researching demographics for my county for Task 1 of community with only the first paragraph completed. It's not difficult really, just time consuming. And I recommend you purchase PERRLA to help with your APA formatting if you aren't a pro at it.

WGU MSN in 6 months
Unless all you have to do in life is do schoolwork every day, I don't think it's possible to complete the entire program in 7 months. I"ve now been going for 6 months and it is time consuming. I have a life and I work a full time job- I don't know how anyone can complete these classes in that amount of time unless you have no life, no family, no job etc.

Western Governors-- MSN Edu or Leadership?
The two aren't mutually exclusive as for future goals and I'm not getting a degree to get a degree. After discussing more with my manager and fellow coworkers, I'm opting to change my declared concentration to Leadership since with that, I can still teach if I decide to, but it will also offer more possible opportunities if i don't want to.

Western Governors-- MSN Edu or Leadership?
Will be starting one of these programs Jan 1- I"m having difficulties deciding which to choose. Advice? Pros and Cons? I've had someone tell me that even with the Leadership concentration, I could teach, but with the Edu, that would basically put me in a position of only teaching, not administration. Someone helllllllp. Josh
