  1. Yeah, that is a problem that should never happen. We have to find a way to protect our elderly. It is sad that we have people that find this acceptable to do to someone.
  2. Just Say “NO” to Nurse Staffing Laws

It is nice, very nice! We rarely have 4 and we have 2 aides at times 3 and we have 28 pts on the floor with 6 rooms for ICU pts.
  3. Just Say “NO” to Nurse Staffing Laws

Honestly, I don't see how one can take more than 4 pts at a time. I work Cardiac Stepdown and we have 4 at most but usually 3. I have read where some RNs have 7 pts, no way I would take that load, not even 6.
  4. That's a hard road to go down. All the horror stories we see and read about I can understand why families would want this. I don't agree, but maybe cameras in the rooms that are monitored in a central location like telemetry does. Still a fine roa...
  5. Please Help

Your daughter has to fight her own battles if she is gonna make it. If the preceptor is too much for her she can request a different one. Her, not you! Honestly, the family members will be much hard on her then the preceptor at times, so she needs...
  6. Plant-based (vegan) mandate for NY hospitals

I wish we had better options on night shift. I know I can pack my own food but sometimes I just don't have the time at home. So many unhealthy options on nights.
  7. Curiosity Killed the Cat and Got 50 Hospital Employees Fired

We had a "high" profile patient on my floor, I stayed far away from his name.

  9. Cape Fear Valley Medical Center

I absolutely LOVE working at CFVMC!!! I have nothing negative to say. My patient ratio is normally 4:1 occasionally 5:1 but that's hardly ever. I work on a Cardiac floor!
  10. "Smart" students make bad nurses?

Actually their pass rate was quite good until that year. I figured out why but they haven't had an issue with any classes prior to or since.
  11. "Smart" students make bad nurses?

When I went to Nursing school this is what quite a few of my instructors told the students as well. They said that many times their C students were better clinically than their A students. They said that the A students found it harder to think crit...
  12. Small paycheck making me second guess career!

I guess my question would be how many hours did you work? Are you a new grad? Maybe per diem is a better option for you if f/t isn't giving you what you expect. Not that per diem will either because sometimes you may not get a pay check at all. A...
  13. Army recruiter says I should join as LPN with BSN

    I meant OCS LOL
  14. Army recruiter says I should join as LPN with BSN

I am not sure what options you have right now if you are wanting to join as an Army nurse since you have to have 2 years experience to direct commission. That requirement is non waiver able so I'm not sure what recourse you have at the moment. And ...
  15. New area for me

0Hello everyone I am wondering if you all can provide me with some information. Particularly Progressive care/step down and Med sure/tele? What can I expect on either floor? I've never worked either so this is totally new territory for me. Also, wha...
  16. Torn Between 2 Jobs

Oh goodness, that's a question only you can answer Hun. I wouldn't stay anywhere I wasn't happy personnally but that's me. Do you see yourself liking working in a LTC? Go there for a day if possible and check it out. Money isn't everything but it'...

  24. Taking NCLEX 4-5months after graduation WITHOUT studying

Are you sure you can't reschedule, sounds like you may be setting yourself up for failure. That's a long break to try and take the exam without at least some review time. You never no though you may pull it off. Best of luck to you ! :)

Yes, check in the state you are applying for licensure. Did you try the PVT?
