Well here it is! I am in my last semester of nursing school and have yet to take intro to speech communications. It is a progam requirement and most of my class took it as a prereq before the program started. The thought of getting up and speaking in front of a group freaks me out SO much, I decided to take it online! I am a very outgoing person in most social settings, but public speaking is something that I just cannot handle! Have any of you taken speech online? If so, what was your experience?? Thanks in advance!!

see the problem is that I took the class about 3-4 years ago and from what I've been told, the teacher does not work there anymore. I never bothered to save anything from the class because it was so long ago and I never thought this would be an issue....how wrong I was! I really don't know what to do about it.

I met with my advisor last week and she was reviewing my transfer credits from my previous school. Well, apparently the school made a mistake on my transcript. They have me listed as taking the wrong course and not the one that I need for my program! I started taking a computer class at my old school and switched to a public speaking course because I needed it as a prereq. My transcript shows that the computer class transfered ( the one I dropped after the 1st class) and no where on my transcript does it show I took public speaking! I don't know what to do now and I'm going to be really upset if this messes up my schedule for the summer because I'm already taking a class. Ahhh, now what do I do? :angryfire

I'm a nursing student right now and all I can say is that I've been having serious doubts about sticking with this. I'm so stressed out from the program and all my clinical instructors are miserable as well. I worked so hard to get here and now I feel like I wasted my time.

My cousin is a dental hygienist and she made $84,000 last year!! She's only been doing it for 2 years and has an associates degree. I know that many hygienists have a base salary plus commision. Most dental offices around my area pay $30 and hour base and anywhere from 35-45% commision. I know some areas in the country pay less, but the same holds true for nurses as well. I don't get it myself and it's very frustrating to me as a first year nursing student.

I don't get to come on nearly as much now:( started the RN program a few weeks ago....talk about stress! I never imagined there would be this much work! Everyone said it would be rough....that was an understatement! Enjoy the time you have before you get accepted into the program because once you start, there is no free time! Good luck guys!!

So, I finished my micro class a few weeks ago. My teacher seemed very nice and he would always joke around and poke fun at me. I figured it was all in good fun. Well, I came home the other day and there was a message from him on my caller id. I get a bit freaked out..I thought there was a problem with my grade or something school related. I immediately called him back and he goes " I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoyed having you in my class...I wish I had more students like you" I was like " oh ummm thank you...is there anything else?? " He goes.." no, that's it...for now" Ok so now I'm TOTALLY creeped out! I hung up with him and figured " ok, maybe he didn't mean anything by it and I should just take it as a harmless compliment" I let it go. Well, today the I see his number on my caller ID AGAIN...this time, no message. I really don't know what to do. I'm afraid to tell my boyfriend because I know he would " lose it" and go to my school. What do I do though?? Do you think I should just let it go? Is he going too far by calling here? I start class on Friday and I'm so nervous about seeing him on campus. Let me know what you guys think :uhoh21:

Ohhhh..I like morning star too Jessica! Ever try their black bean burgers?? Omg...they are awesome! I'm a really picky eater....can't stand meat, not big on dairy...I basically live on friuts and veggies! Nothing beats a really good salad:)

Omg..I have to take this class at some point too and I keep avoiding it! I HATE getting up in front of the class and giving a speech. I should look into taking it online. What school offers it? Ah, I need to find out if my school will accept it online...worth a shot!

Fun, I agree with Janice. The same thing has happened to me in the past and it makes me mental..lol. Can't stand losing out on that extra point:(! Anyway, how about this. Approach the teacher and just say something like " I noticed I was maked off on this question...could you tell me what the correct answer is so I won't make this mistake on the next test?" Maybe then she'll see that you were correct and give you the points. Worth a shot huh? Good luck!

Traci, awesome job on that lab grade!! Congrats:) I start micro on June 1st and it's an 8 week class. Do you think we'll be bald after this or what..lol? I'm really nervous about taking a class as demanding as micro in 8 weeks, but I want it out of the way before I start my nursing classes this fall. We should start a summer micro thread when the class starts! Let me know how you make out and good luck on your final!! I know you'll do great. Whitney, I know how you feel....waiting drives me crazy!! It really stinks when you have a lousy instructor...trust me I know. I had the teacher from hell last semester and I could not wait for that class to end! Let us know how you make out. Horray!!! It's OVER!! My last exam for A&P 2 was on Monday:) I didn't get my grade on the final yet, but I figured out that I could get a 70 on it and still keep my A. Ah, this has been a long semester...lots of studying! I can't believe how fast it went by and I'll miss the subject, but I'm looking forward to moving on. I'm starting micro in June, so I'll have that to keep me busy that's for sure. Anyway, best wishes to all of you taking finals!!

Yeah, that's one class that I'm totally not looking forward to taking! Just thinking about having to take it makes my heart race! It's weird because I am a very social person. I always talk in class, enjoy meeting new people ect. But when it comes to having to stand up in front of people and talk about something...I turn to jello. I would take that class online if I could but the whole thing about being video taped kinda freaks me out too. LOL...I could always make my boyfriend put on a wig and some lipstick and pretend to be me. How would they know?? Plus...he owes me!

I'll be taking Micro this summer for 8 weeks. I know it will be a lot of work..but, I would much rather get it out of the way before I start my nursing classes in the fall. Since I'm already in the program, I'm going to take micro at another CC and use it as a transfer credit. lol....that way it won't be one my GPA in the event that I don't do as well as I expected.

Doug85....Awesome job!!! You're going to do great this semester:) We had our first lab practical on Monday. It covered all of Cardiovascular 1&2, blood typing, and the arterial/ venous system. I hope I did well....I'll be thinking about this darn test until I get it back next week...I hate waiting for my test results!!! I'm really nervous about the next lab practical we have. It covers Lymphatics and the Respiratory systems...I've heard that lab is hell!! My lab instructor does not give any bonus points either..talk about pressure! Anyway, I hope you're all doing well. Can you believe it's already March!? Spring break can't come soon enough;)

Well, we had class last night and our teacher handed back our 1st exam...I got a 98. I was pretty happy:) She went over the tests for a few minutes and got right into the new material. We're doing the Lymphatic system and Respiratory system right now. Our first lab practical is in March and it covers everything from the 1st 3 chapters, including..hematocrit, WBC and RBC identification, Cardiovascular 1&2 which involves identifying all parts of the heart, all calculations for cardiac output, the arterial system and the venous system....a TON of stuff!! So, wouldn't it make more sense to do the practical BEFORE we start all this new material? NOw I have to remember all the old stuff and keep the new stuff fresh in my head because we have a lecture test on the new material a day after the 1st lab practical!! Oh man, this semester is gonna go by slllooowwww..lol.

WannabeanRN, wow that's pretty cool that your teacher gives you the essay questions! We had 10 on our exam today and my damn hand still hurts from writing..LOL. Where do you go to school?? I think I need to transfer;) Good luck on your test.

Well, it's been awhile since my last post. We just finished the cardiovascular system...had my 1st exam today. It was rough...lots of material and calculations but I think I did well..hope so anyway!! It's looks like we are all on different body systems in school. This week we start the Lymphatic system and Respiration. Ahhh, I think A&P is very interesting BUT I just wish there wasn't so much studying involved. I feel completely drained after every test! Anyways, I hope you're all doing well!! Good luck to those of you who have tests coming up:)

Scmomof3, I know exactly how you're feeling. My 3 hour lecture and 3 hour lab got cancelled this past week because we had a snow storm. The sad thing is, I just started the class last week and already missed a day due to weather. We have a test coming up on Feb 8th and I have yet to take a page of notes in this class!! Now I'm hearing Ct might get hit with more snow on Monday too. I can only pray that this teacher will consider moving up the test date. Heck at this rate, we should just have class online until mid April..lol. Grrrrrr..enough winter already!! I'm ready to break out the shorts!

I noticed that we have way less material to cover in A&P 2. We covered 18 chapters in A&P 1 and we only have 10 chapters in A&P 2! We left off last semester with the endocrine system. Anyone else notice this?? It seems odd to me. Mandarella, Don't panic! You're going to do great:) Once you get started, it will come back to you. Also, if you ever need help, there are plenty of great people on this site that will be here for you....myself included! As you can see, we are all in this together.

have you ever considered becoming a dental hygienist?? A few very close friends of mine chose dental hygiene and they all really love it. The prerequisite classes are the same as nursing. I'm amazed at how much they get paid and the hours are great too.
