  1. Mean director

I've been offered a school nurse job starting next school year. I met the head nurse over the whole district recently at an event and boy-oh-boy is she a crabby lady. She was so unhappy about everything going on that day. Little things like she wa...
  2. Mean director

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the good advice. Emergent, this is a new school in the district so I'm not replacing someone who left. I think I'll go ahead and try it. There are a lot of schools in the district so she probably won't be able ...
  3. Tired of never feeling good about nursing school!

I guess I'm the oddball. My school is not like that at all. I was expecting it to be, though. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that we are all treated with a very high level of respect. Sure, there is a lot of work, a lot of stuff to do, a ...
  4. I don't want night shifts

It all depends on where you live. I'm in the S. East and if you are an RN here you can pretty much choose where and when you work. The "nursing shortage" is alive and well here which makes it easy to choose your shift!
  5. I Can't, I Have Lab

I've had that schedule too! Crazy! What is perplexing me this semester (first semester of nursing school) is that I'm in lab from 8-2 one day per week and get one (1!) credit for it!? And I am in another class called "nursing applications" for wel...
  6. ADN=RN

In my area, an ADN RN will be easily hired and is qualified for management positions. In my town, we have one CC and one university. The graduates from the CC are in demand over the university students for some reason....? The hospitals don't care...
  7. New Student

I agree with MN-Nurse. You may hear that 75 or whatever is passing and will get you out of the class, but you need to work for all A's to have a good shot at getting accepted into a nursing program. Seriously..."Do whatever you have to do to get A'...
  8. Have you ever been paralyzed by fear?

I'm 44 and got accepted to start in January. I'm nervous too, but I did well in prereqs so I'm confident!! You'll do great!! :)
  9. Be a nurse or not?! HELP ME PLEASE!

No one, nurses included, likes cleaning up poop. But fortunately lots of people, you included, can get used to it so it doesn't seem so bad. We all (even nurses) are opposed to things like poop because that is how we naturally keep ourselves safe. ...
  10. Taking an algebra course online. Good idea?

I took College Algebra in an online 8-week course last year. That thing was hard! I worked by tail off and ended up with a B. I know I would have done better had I been in a classroom with a teacher explaining everything and moving slower. That c...
  11. Stay at home mom...scared to go back to school

I was a stay at home mom for 16 years (still am) and went back to school one year ago. I was scared! But I have totally rocked! My GPA is 3.85. Just decide to succeed and you will!
  12. Hi Ya'll! Any new pre-nursing students?

A&P 2 Final tomorrow. Start Micro in a few weeks (fall). That's it for me. Nothing left to take.
  13. I Need Help Really Bad!!!!!

The original post is almost 4 years old, but I just have to post. Don't put your hope in karma. There is no such thing as karma, so why would you "believe" in it? Put your hope in Jesus and he will bless you! Jesus is real. He will bless you bey...
  14. What do you listen to while studying

Firework. Katy Perry. "Cause baby you're a firework Come on show 'em what you're worth Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!" As you shoot across the sky-y-y Baby you're a firework Come on let your colors burst Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!" You're gonna leave 'em al...
  15. Would you be mad if a fellow nursing student did this?

I think everyone has the right to major in anything they want for ANY reason they want. If she wants a nursing degree but never plans on using it, she has that right. She's using it for a stepping stone, not an endpoint. I don't think there's anyt...
  16. Answer this question please...

The medical world loves to vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate! So I would chose the vaccinate choice. In my family and with my kids, I am very choosy when it comes to vaccines. After extensive personal research, I've decided that my daughters will ne...
  17. My four children are 16, 14, and twins 12. They are each 22 mos. apart in age. When people ask me about my kids the conversation always comes back to the fact that they are so close in age. My comments are always..."I'm so glad they are so close i...
  18. Could it be...don't have to take Chemistry? :)

I just found out today that the RN to BSN program I'll be looking into at some point in time just removed chem from the prereq and replaced it with an elective. It's my state's university. Wow, I'm happy!
  19. 2year RN vs BSN

Check around in your area. It's different everywhere. In my area we have two schools: the CC and the University. The hospitals here will hire an ADN RN from the CC over the BSN RN from the University because our CC trains better nurses - higher n...
  20. Could it be...don't have to take Chemistry? :)

No chem required from my school which has an extremely high nclex pass rate (top 5 in state). I got a 97 final avg in AP1 with zero chem background (and none in high school either). The hospitals around here hire from this school first because of t...
  21. Prenursing while a CNA

I dont have kids but I DO have great study habits. That's what it takes! Great study habits!
  22. Best time management tips that worked for you?

Try to get into a daily study routine. I noticed that I was able to get many things done in my life that were part of my "routine". So I scheduled daily study time and I keep it part of my daily routine (6-8pm daily) and it gets done. It is workin...
  23. Why do you want to be a nurse?

Because the pay is good, the job is in high demand in my area, the training doesn't take too long, and I like taking care of people.
  24. I was awful at the microscope. So bad that I thought it was over. So bad that I was embarrassed to ask for help! So I mentally checked out, pretended I knew what I was donig, then went home and googled what I needed to know, studied it online, and...
  25. I got my acceptance letter today!!

Oohh, that sounds very interesting! My school doesn't have that. Tell me more...
