Getting into a groove
I share your sentiments, I'm about 50/50 with starting IV's. For me as a new nurse I think it's the finesse that I lack, I've gotten better at setting everything up before I start and putting it within reach so that when it's time to connect I'm not making a huge mess. I'm always afraid I'm going too deep so I try not to go at too much of an angle.

New Grad/Hate My Job/Life is Miserable!
Love this thread. I'm 3 weeks into my critical care internship and I feel utterly defeated after every shift. Just when I think I've gotten the hang of it something new and challenging happens the next shift and I feel incompetent all over again. I dream of the day I actually feel like I know what I'm doing.

Fall 2012 new nursing students roll call!!!
Graduated May 9th, took NCLEX June 18th, Passed!
-
Just passed.. My 2¢
I felt a lot like you Kaaa, after taking the exam I felt that there as no sure way to study FOR the NCLEX. You really need to have a solid foundation from nursing school and clinical experiences that you are able to use in order to understand what the question is asking and to answer it correctly. My computer shut off at 75q and I sat there mortified because I just knew there was no way I proved I was competent, fortunately I was wrong and I passed :)

2014 Pearson Vue Trick (PVT) Poll
PVT worked, my name showed up on the BON site this morning!!!!
-
Why is this question always asked?
I felt that NCLEX was very vast and random also. When people ask me for my advice it's hard to give any, I took the exam last week and I'm still sorting my feelings out around it lol

Dont Waste Money on a review course!
I'm actually one of those people that left the NCLEX thinking that there was no way to study for it exactly. I wasn't sure that Kaplan helped me at first, looking back it I see that it helped in some ways but after I took the exam I had a different attitude towards review courses. I agree that one should look at what the NCLEX test and work on your weak areas but not just for the sake of the test, it's for the sake of your patient and your nursing career. Before taking the NCLEX I realized that I wanted a better understanding of FVE (fluid, volume and electrolytes) and I wanted this not just for the NCLEX. I've gotten in the habit of looking for areas of weakness and strengthening those areas. The questions I found difficult on NCLEX were the questions that contained content I was weak in even then I could r/o 1 or 2 answer choices.

"Good pop-up" or "bad pop-up" ?
Congrats!!!!!

"Good pop-up" or "bad pop-up" ?
I know, it's alright. It's a stressful situation and in times like these you need other people to be your voice of reason. Trust me I know, I couldn't even bring myself to do the PVT trick, I had to have my spouse do it and I had my eyes closed and ears covered the whole time.

"Good pop-up" or "bad pop-up" ?
This is nothing new. Your results won't be available until the 48 hour mark. I mentioned to you in the other thread that the "contact your BON" verbiage has been removed. Time will reveal all things :)

Ran out of time on the NCLEX-RN. "Results on hold" ?
Contacting your BON has apparently been removed from the message. Congrats!

Pearsonvue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 3
1st your state must participate in it, you can google it to find out. After that just log back in and under where it says "delivery successful" there should be an option to purchase quick results under that. Make sure it has been exactly 48 hours, I tried a lot before then but they are really specific it seems, lol

2014 Pearson Vue Trick (PVT) Poll
It seems that contacting the BON is no longer apart of the message.

First name on my DL doesn't match the name on my ATT
I would call, this is too important to not know for sure directly from the source.

NCLEX 2014/Kaplan
I didn't use the decision tree at all during the exam. Kaplan helped with critical thinking but I felt like I was making educated guesses on majority of the questions.
-
NCLEX 2014/Kaplan
I felt the same way kjrober, I thought NCLEX was harder than Kaplan for that same reason. I call those type of questions, splitting hairs because you had to really read each answer choice and dissect it, there were rarely any that were straightforward.

How did you feel after you took the NCLEX?
Vintagemother, I felt as though I was guessing on a majority of the questions, it was the most unsettling feeling ever!

How did you feel after you took the NCLEX?
Well from what I've read it's pretty reliable if you can't register. There seems to be a gray area if it allows you to put in your credit card information. I've been on AN for four years and from everything I've gathered I trust it.

How did you feel after you took the NCLEX?
Y'all that test was like being in a pressure cooker. lol

How did you feel after you took the NCLEX?
kgl_2014, I couldn't even check for myself. I had my hubby check. I was a mess, I was certain there was no way. I felt so horrible. Did you try to re-register?
