Nurse new to Buffalo area
Hi I haven’t been on this site in ages...... I currently work as an RN case manager in a remote position for a national health care company. Due to my husband’s job, we recently moved to the Buffalo area. My company was recently sold and I am interested in checking out the Buffalo hospital scene in terms of jobs for case managers. If anyone has any insights for me I would really appreciate it, would love to speak to an area nurse. I don't know a soul here! Send me a PM if you would prefer! Thanks so much!

Inpatient Hospice Ethical Dilemma?
Does your hospital have an anonymous ethics reporting line? This is definitely not ok. Google the Stark law. Physicians cannot make referrals to a facility in which they, or an immediate family member, have a financial interest.

How to become a case manager
I was just hired within my same hospital system for a Case Manager position. I have 4 years of med surg tele experience and a BSN, but no CM experience. I believe BSN was a requirement. I will wear scrubs (Yay!) with a lab coat, I will see patients in order to do discharge planning, work closely with doctors and social workers. I do have to work one weekend a month. This job is a salary position. Certification is not required, but I'm told some get it.

Best of both worlds?
At large hospitals the OR team works 12's. Also try interventional radiology or cath lab at a big hospital

Case Management Interview!!!
Well, I was offered the position today, at the same rate I make as a staff RN. This will be a salary position, though, 40 hours instead of my .9 FT. A little more vacation and no weekends or holidays. They would not negotiate on the salary. Does this sound normal?

Case Management Interview!!!
Would love to hear some replies on this as well. I just had an interview within the same hospital system I'm currently employed in for CM position and am hoping for a bit of a pay raise.

Mid-forties : Looking for a Specialty to Grow Old In
I'm 51 and contemplating a move from the floor to case management. I'm just worried about giving up the freedom and flexibility of 3 12's for the 5 - 8 hour days. But those long 12's are killing me! I had an interview this week, so we shall see!

Patient positioning aids
Sally tubes are amazing. 1 patient use, very inexpensive, like $5 a piece. Works kind of like a trash bag under the draw sheet and let you move people without injuring yourself. We keep them in every room of the hospital. I hope my picture comes through!

12 hr shift makeup routine
Try bare minerals, I love it, it's super natural looking and just covers up the bad stuff. I use it every day for floor nursing. And like someone previously said, Sephora or Ulta can help you choose, and they carry everything all in one spot.

I would call and ask HR, we have no way of knowing. But usually it would mean 3 shifts a week.

I know the CIWA scale ranks anxiety on a zero to ten rating. Not sure if this helps you, but may give you a starting point.
